I think wind power is cropping up more and more. But I don't think the oil companies are ready to give up power just yet. And that's what it boils down to. A power shift.
I was a former newspaper reporter in Texas and California. I was also in the music business for about 20 years as a sound technician. I've been a graphic artist for almost 30 years, which is what I do now, in addition to some video editing. (I specialize in music slide shows).

Stupid people and stupid drivers irritate me and I have little tolerance for them. I love animals and birds and have a hard time killing an insect.

Then let's do as Pickens suggests & start switching to CNG for an interm solution till the alt technologies have thew bugs ironed out.
